"Fractures" - A Minecraft Animated Series is an original fantasy/steampunk medieval Minecraft Music Video saga. It is currently the main project of Rainimator, a popular Minecraft animator. Fractures centres on the wars ravaging Minecraftia, as factions such as the Frostbourne, the Ender Watchers and the Nether Horde battle for their own realm.
The first season "Herobrine's Revenge" premiered on August 11, 2017, the second season "The Last Ender Watcher" on August 10, 2018 and the third "The Endstone Crusaders" on June 23, 2021. Although the series follows many characters, the main protagonist is a warrior named Rain, the Dragon Tamer.
Over the development of Fractures, Rainimator has collaborated with various independent artists, including Blacklite District, Music Factory, WE ARE FURY and even TryHardNinja. In 2020, Rainimator collaborated with TheBlueJerome for a Christmas crossover.
Plot[]
Herobrine's Revenge[]
Herobrine begins forming his army of the Undead, which turns most of Rain and Abigail's friends into zombies as well. Rain gets zombified before a skeleton part of Herobrine's army shoots Abigail in the head with an arrow, killing her. Soon after, Ser Patrick and Daryll, both members of the Frostbourne, arrive to pick up Rain and bring him back to their castle, where he meets Lady Azura, who brings him back to life using a golden apple. After a training montage, Azura gifts Rain the ice armorset and an Ender Dragon attacks the village shortly after. Using an ender pearl, Rain then follows the Dragon into the End, where he 'tames' the Dragon, hence his nickname, the "Dragon Tamer".
After taming the Dragon, he rides it back into the Overworld where the Frostbourne and Herobrine's Undead Army are preparing for battle. During the battle, Herobrine visits the Nether, where he meets Scorch, Glutton, and Abigail, who is now Queen of the Nether, and asks the Pig King Glutton to assist him defeat the Frostbourne using the Nether Horde's army. He agrees, and most humans fighting in the battle are presumably outmatched. Rain also meets with Abigail, where she proceeds to fight him. After freezing her legs and arms in ice, Rain retreats to Frostbourne's base while Herobrine looks over the battleground.
Once back at the castle, Rain looks at a few photos of him and Abigail pre-battle, while the area where the Nether attacked is shown to be decimated. Rain then prepares to battle her in the Nether, which Azura tries (and fails) to stop. Using Frostbourne's machine guns and his dual diamond swords, Rain kills a swarm of Pigmen, Blazes and Ghasts, as well as fighting Glutton, where he succeeds in killing him. After a lengthy fight with Abigail, both her and Rain die by stabbing each other through the heart.
After Rain, Glutton, and Abigail's death, the Nether army has suspiciously gone quiet. At the situation, Lady Azura considers attacking Herobrine and ending his reign now, however Ser Patrick suggests using their best 'bandits and mercenaries' rather than destroy what is left of the Frostbourne army. Azura initially has doubts over the bandits ability to obey orders, however Patrick assures her that he has come to a deal with them. Patrick also gets Azura to send their last Eye of Ender to the Ender Watchers to gain their support to finish Herobrine off.
Afterwards, Patrick meets up with Azura, Stella, Daryll and two unnamed bandits to discuss their attack plan. At the Wither Camp, Blackbone with his wither skeletons are preparing for battle while Frostbourne get ready to fight them. Blackbone is subsequently killed by Stella. After defeating Blackbone's troops, the bandits kick down a Nether army banner while Patrick gives Azura and Stella permission to travel to the End, where the Ender Watchers are preparing to join them for battle.
After a lengthy battle, Azura and Stella arrive to help Patrick, who has been wounded by Herobrine. Soon afterwards, Ceris, Vordus, and Zeganirn arrive, and the former impales Herobrine and beheads him soon after.
The Last Ender Watcher[]
Azura suggests going to the floating isles (an area recently captured by the Nether), presumably to find Rain, however Patrick is hesitant, and questions the integrity of her plan. Daryll also protests, however Azura assures them that she is strong enough to withstand the Nether, and that losing her would be less important than having the Nether army invade again. Patrick eventually agrees, and Azura uses her specially designed elytra to take off towards the Floating Isles. On her way, she gets attacked by some ghasts at a Nether army base, however she defeats them.
Once in the Nether, Azura fights Gigabone, a Giant Wither, who she defeats as well after a lengthy fight. Afterwards, she sees Rain, who had been kept alive in the Nether from the Wither Heart Curse, fighting a Pigman horde and she goes to save him. After noticing that Rain's left eye is now white and glowing, she sees General Naeus, who sends Wither Skeletons after the duo. She used her Beacon Guns to kill around half, but she soon ran out of ammo. Then, using her wings, she picks up Rain and escapes unscathed.
As a civil war breaks out among Pigmen and Wither Skeletons, General Naeus (soon to be new King) and a loyal wither knight named Kralos are discussing how the former Pig King's death has torn the Nether Horde apart. Naeus suggests that they do nothing, so that when the war inevitably fails, everyone will come to trust him. After seeing more of the battle, Naeus and his subordinates drop Abigail's corpse into lava, incinerating her, and Naeus unleashes the Nether Star on himself, gifting him insanely strong powers but corrupting him. In the Overworld, the Pigmen collect what is left of Herobrine after the events of 'Goodbye' and the Wither Skeletons all bow to Naeus and Kralos. Afterwards, the Wither Skeletons and Naeus fight against the Pigmen, with the Wither Skeletons winning. Naeus lets one Pigman, go back to his circle, where he gets killed for telling Naeus about their plans. Naeus then swaps the Herobrine head on the pedestal for the Nether Star and fights with the leader of the Pigmen, Hogsworth, which he wins.
Back at Frostbourne base, Rain and Stella are talking about taking Rain to the Mystic Forest, where they can cure him of the Wither Heart Curse that was inflicted on him from Abigail’s Staff, the Ruby Thorn. Patrick refuses to help, however both Rain and Stella insist on leaving. As the walk goes on, the curse begins to take over Rain, and he nearly collapses at one point. While him and Stella are sitting around a fire, they are attacked by a group of mobs, however both Rain and Stella defeat them. Once at the Coven, Rain collapses and Stella sees that all the witches have been killed, presumably by Infernius, who then attacks Stella. Stella is overwhelmed, but using her magic, She barely survives through sending Infernius through a nether portal, and she find out how to heal Rain within the Wither Spell Book. Once he is cured, him and Stella share a hug.
At the same time, the Nether Horde attacks the Ender Watchers, with the Ender Watcher Vordus, being slaughtered. Via Zeganirn, the message reaches Rain and Stella, the latter of which is hesitant to leave, but Rain persuades her that Zeganirn 'has nothing to live for' and that they would be outnumbered anyway. Soon after, Four assassins are sent by King Naeus, being Namtar, Ifrit, Amon, and Djinn, three of which are killed by Zeganirn. The Nether armies arrives soon after and Zeganirn is presumably killed.
While Rain and Stella are sitting around a campfire, the one assassin that escapes arrives, Djinn, uses a knife (which is coated in a special type of poison) and 'kills' Stella and gives Rain a cut on the left eye. Rain tries to carry Stella back to some sort of base, however she completes her transformation into a Netherkin (caused by the poison) and Rain is forced to fight her. Both survive, with Rain being shortly knocked out and Stella getting her humanity back, although Stella gets scared away by the Netherbane duo, Kane and Ciara, a group dedicated to helping humanity in the war against the Nether, which also includes hunting and killing Netherkins like Stella.
While one of the members, Kane, fights with Rain over shooting Stella, the female, Ciara, goes off to follow Stella into the Nether, where she kills most of the things that block her path. After she fights with Stella, Rain and the Kane arrive and discover that Stella is going to pay tribute to Zeganirn, healing her in the process restoring her eyes back to normal.
Presumably after a few days, it is revealed the Frostbourne has upgraded many of its troops and weapons, and has made significant progress in such areas. Ser Patrick starts up, giving a speech with Lady Azura to all the Frostbourne Troops. They declare a war at the Far Plains, previous Frostbourne Territory toll conquered by the Horde. However, Daryll shows how delusional the idea was, claiming it would be practical suicide to do such a dangerous mission. Yet, he eventually let in, and agreed. Soon, it is revealed that Ceris, the last surviving Ender Watcher, was being decapitated by Naeus, ending her life. Then, the war started off very well for the Frostbourne, easily killing lots of Nether Horde Soldiers.
Soon however, Naeus summons the Ancient Portal which hasn’t been used for thousands of years, and he and hundreds of troops charge through it, entering the Far Plains. Soon enough, the Frostbourne quickly has things turned around, and despite trying to stay on, Ser Patrick calls the retreat, and most of the remaining soldiers flee. However, Daryll was still there. Naeus went to stab him with his newly gained Ender Armblade (from absorbing Ceris’ power), but before Daryll could pass out and bleed to death, he held the Armblade inside of him. Then, the last remaining Airship (which Dexter was on) crashed into the duo, killing Daryll and leaving Naeus severely injured.
